Who we are

Smart Tank Club is a place to record what happens in an aquarium and check it against what its inhabitants need. Smart Tank Club is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: support@smarttank.club.

What we collect

  • Account. Your email address, and the name and picture Google gives us if you sign in with Google. We keep no password.
  • Your ecosystems. The tanks you register and everything you log about them: stock, readings, journal entries, schedules, and the items you suggest for the catalog.
  • Technical. The IP address and browser of each sign-in, and timestamps, kept to keep the service secure and working. When something goes wrong in the app, a report of what failed, on which page, browser and device.
  • Notifications. If you turn them on, the address your browser gives us to reach that device.
  • Payments. If you choose the paid plan, Stripe takes the payment. We store the reference Stripe gives us for you and the state of your subscription. We never see or store your card number.
  • AI assistants. If you connect one, what it records through your connection is stored as yours and marked as coming from an assistant.
  • Feedback. If you send feedback from Settings, it reaches us by email with your email address, so we can reply.
  • Quote requests. If you ask for a quote on our services page, what you enter reaches us by email so we can reply. We don't keep it in the app.
  • Shop links. The shops you recommend are stored with your account. We count clicks on shop links without recording who clicked, and we use the country you connect from to put the shops that sell there first, without storing it. When you follow a link to Amazon, Amazon may set cookies that credit Smart Tank Club with what you buy.
  • Partner listings. If you list a service in Find help, the listing is public and shown to anyone: its name, web address, about text, what you offer, where, and any species. Your account email is never shown. The partners you recommend are stored with your account. We count clicks on a partner's link without recording who clicked, and we use the country and region you connect from to put nearby partners first, without storing them.

How we use it

We use your information to sign you in, send one-time codes, keep your records, work out the checks you see, and send the notifications you asked for. We also study what keepers log across many tanks, without names or email addresses, to learn what keeps a tank healthy and to improve the catalog and the checks. We do not use it for advertising.

Google user data

If you sign in with Google, we ask Google only for basic sign-in access (openid, email and profile). We cannot see anything else in your Google account.

  • What we receive. Your email address, your name, your profile picture, and the sign-in tokens Google issues.
  • How we use it. Your email address identifies your account. Your name fills in your profile, and you can change it in Settings. We do not use your picture, and we do not use the tokens to read anything from Google.
  • Sharing. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to develop, improve or train AI or machine-learning models. Cloudflare stores it for us as our host. If you choose the paid plan, Stripe receives your email address to bill you. No one else receives it.
  • Protection. It travels only over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is stored in our Cloudflare database, which is encrypted at rest. The Google tokens are encrypted again before they are stored.
  • Keeping and deleting. We keep it while your account is open. When you close your account in Settings, we delete your email address, name, picture and tokens. You can also remove Smart Tank Club's access at any time from your Google Account's security settings.

Smart Tank Club's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. The sign-in page and the services request form may run Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. We use no tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.

Who we share it with

Only the providers that help us run the service, each receiving only what it needs: Cloudflare hosts the app and its database, delivers our email and checks for bots; Sentry receives the reports of what went wrong in the app; Google takes part only if you choose to sign in with Google; Stripe processes payments only if you choose the paid plan; and the notification service of your browser carries the notifications you turned on. Some may process data outside your country.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Keeping and deleting data

An ecosystem you delete can be restored for 30 days. After that its link to you is removed and its records are kept without an owner. To close your account, use Settings: we delete your account and sign-in details, and your ecosystems are kept the same way, without your name or email address. Your service listing and your recommendations of other listings are deleted too.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) you may ask to see, correct or delete your data, and may object to certain processing. Write to support@smarttank.club and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data, including Google user data, we will update this page and its date and notify you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
